Collecting and transportation

Biowaste is collected on-site at the households. In more remote areas the collection of biowaste may be organize by area collection points. Biowaste is transported from the collection points to biowaste treatment plant.

Handling

Biogas plants produce biogas from biowaste by digesting it. In some areas, separately collected biowaste is processed in a composting plant.

Recycling and recovery

Gas produced from biowaste can be used, for example, as fuel for private cars, municipal waste management utility vehicles, or city buses. The digestion residue left over from gas production can be used as fertilizer in agriculture.
