Garden waste

Waste stations can have a separate collection point for twigs, branches and raking waste. Sort your garden waste beforehand to speed up your visit to the waste station. You might have to pay a fee to deposit unsorted waste.

Organic waste from the kitchen belongs in the compost bin or a separate organic waste collection. Garden waste comprises twigs and raking waste, among other things. It belongs to your own compost bin or the waste station.

Collecting and transportation

The collection points are usually located at waste treatment centres and sorting stations.

Handling

Twigs and branches are shredded into wood chips. The branch and twig chips are used as a support medium for composting. The support medium enhances the breakdown of organic waste during the composting process. The chips are also used as renewable fuel in energy production.

Raking waste is composted. Composted raking waste is utilised in landscaping.
