Collected glass is used for making new glass packaging. Only put glass packaging such as glass jars and glass beverage bottles without deposit into the glass packaging collection.

Always observe local and collection point specific instructions! The following are some general guidelines based on prevailing practices.
Remove caps and lids. Gaskets and labels do not need to be removed.
Flush dirty glass packaging with cold water, if necessary. Return glass bottles with deposit to a collection point at a grocery store or Alko.
Take packages that contain hazardous waste or are pressurised (e.g. paint, chemicals, medicine, hair spray) to your regional hazardous waste collection point.
Household glass packaging is collected at Rinki eco take-back point. In addition, glass packaging is collected at the waste collection area of most larger properties. Municipalities also operate supplementary regional collection points.

Properly sorted glass that meets the quality criteria is transported from temporary storage to the harbour and from there to the UK where it is used for manufacturing new glass packaging. They are no longer manufactured in Finland.
